2004 Year End Statistics
The Board member volunteers of Wings of Hope would like to thank everyone for making 2004 such a success. We had amazing results and were able to rehome many animals with the help of everyone. Please see our statistics below for more details.

Intakes and Adoptions

In 2004 Wings of Hope took in total of 190 animals. These ranged from finches and macaws, with everything in between… to rabbits and ferrets. At the end of the year, we had successfully adopted out 172 of those animals that came in. Of that original 190, 13 remained in Foster Care into the New Year (8 have since been adopted as well). Due to unforeseen circumstances of the adopting owner, 2 birds were returned to Wings of Hope, and were able to be re-adopted into a permanent loving home. Unfortunately 2 birds passed to the Rainbow Bridge while in our care. The remaining 3 passed to Rainbow Bridge after adoption. We had 1 positive disease test result, which was for the Pacheco Virus in a cockatiel. The afflicted bird has since tested negative during 2 subsequent retests, and is now available for adoption. He is considered to be negative and the first test is believed to have been a false positive.

Financial Contributions and Expenses

We had contributions from the general public, which includes adoption donations totaling $27,727.28. Our adoption donations accounted for $10,196.18 of the funds received. Wings of Hope was extremely fortunate to be the recipient of 2 grants from the Petco Foundation totaling $3500.00.

We had expenses totaling $24,776.21. As of December 31, 2004 we had $441.59 in our general checking account, $2021.42 in our savings account and $488.06 in our Special Needs Fund. Some of our expenses include $6223.73 in vetting, $4706.50 in disease testing by an outside lab, $2374.75 in toys and supplies, $4415.49 in food, and $342.64 for our web space with maintenance.

We spent no money on compensation for any Board Member and/or Volunteer of Wings of Hope. We also did not spend any money on Fundraising or Promotions. 100% of all monies are allotted for the animals we help.

Volunteers

Wings of Hope ended 2004 with 31 members. This includes 3 Junior Members in our new program. We held 2 general membership meetings as well as 2 Emergency Board Meetings concerning special issues.
