Wings of Hope will only accept an animal if he/she is donated to our organization. We do not purchase birds, under any circumstances.
Wings of Hope does not breed birds nor do we place any birds into breeding situations.
|3.||Wings of Hope requires that adopters be over the age of 21 years.|
|4.||A home visit may be required by a Wings of Hope member prior to adoption.|
We are open to out of state adoptions. However, we do not ship birds, under any circumstances. Any person wishing to adopt a bird is responsible for the transportation to see any animal they wish to adopt. If you are not able to travel to the foster home of the animal, please look elsewhere.
All potential adopters are required to complete a telephone interview with a member of our adoption team prior to being approved for adoption.
All applicants must be able to provide verifiable references, as they will be checked. Refusal can be grounds for rejection.
Please note that Wings of Hope does NOT accept applications for specific birds. We approve an application based on species only. However, if there is a bird available on our site that you are interested in, we take that into consideration. Wings of Hope maintains a waiting list of approved applicants. If an incoming bird is a match for the applicant, the applicant will be notified.
Wings of Hope accepts checks as a courtesy. If you issue a check that is non-negotiable (for any reason), the adoption will be considered null and void, and the animal must be returned to Wings of Hope immediately.
All birds are disease tested prior to adoption. The adoption donation is tax deductible, as allowed by law. All adoptions include a cage, toys, supplies, and a small supply of food.
Wings of Hope conducts mandatory follow ups on all adopted animals at the following intervals: 2 weeks, 2 months, 6 months, and 1 year.
Wings of Hope reserves the right to halt the adoption process AT ANY POINT if it is determined that it is not in the bird's best interest. This is our right, and in the best interest of the bird.
Anyone interested in adopting a bird must be "pre-approved" before meeting the bird of their choice and must sign a contract upon adoption.
Adopted birds are to remain in the home and cannot be given away, sold, traded, or bred. They are to be treated as a companion and friend. If the adopter cannot retain ownership of the animal, he/she MUST be returned to Wings of Hope.
Potential adopters may be required to spend hands on time with the species of their choice under the supervision of one of our volunteers before being approved. In addition, before taking a bird home, potential adopters will be required to spend hands on time with the species of their choice under the supervision of one of our volunteers and multiple visits may be necessary.
Anyone wishing to adopt a bird that resides in a rented or leased property MUST provide written permission from his/her landlord to adopt a bird PRIOR to the application being approved. You may use this form. It is in PDF format. If this information is not received in a timely manner, the application will be dead filed.
